#4- My Slice of Life

It was about three in the morning, I was staying the night at my grandmas house because my mom was in the hospital waiting to have my baby sister. The Phone rang at about three A.M. it woke us all up and since it was the middle of the night we didn’t know what was going on. It was my daddy calling us to have us come down to the hospital because the doctor was inducing my mom. I was full of excitement! I couldn’t believe I was about to be a big sister. After eight years of being an only child and begging and pleading for a little sibling. Well now my wish was about to come true. We got to the hospital and we spent about four hours waiting to know what was going on.

At about 7:30 A.M. the nurse came out and said, ” Heather would you like to come and meet your brand new baby sister?” I was so happy. She was here! I had someone to play with now! I went in and saw my mom laying in the bed and my dad next to her. In the bed with my mom was my baby sister. Rebecca Ella-June Mikel.  She was seven pounds and thirteen ounces, she had chunky baby cheeks and the brightest red hair I  had ever seen.  My daddy picked her  up and put her in my arms.  She was finally here, after eight years of begging and pleading she was finally here.  I couldn’t have been happier. Now eight years later I’m sixteen and she will be eight in just a few weeks. I’m still extremely proud that she is my little sister and I got to be there at the hospital the day she was born.

I can relate to this story… I was five when my little brother was born, and we had so much fun together when we were young. Thanks for sharing this memory.
